URBAN PRODUCTIONS BOLDLY PRESENTS:
Sunday, April 20, 2003 - 8pm
MEOW MIX MEN'S NIGHT
Live at MEOW MIX BAR in NYC
A special, multi-artist music concert featuring
a galaxy of star performers from the vibrant GLBT rock,
pop & folk music scene.

Featured in the evening's stellar line-up:

BRENDA EVANS

Brenda was chosen as a 1997 New Folk finalist at the prestigious KERRVILLE FOLK FESTIVAL. Additionally, she's been a featured performer at major folk venues all throughout CT & MA. In 1998, Brenda released her first CD, "WAITING THERE FOR YOU".

Brenda wowed CT audiences at our Acoustic Cafe shows in Connecticut last year. I can testify - to hear her torch songs is to have a direct experience of heartache itself. In this all-too-rare NYC appearance, she was in top vocal form, and her duets with CADENCE CARROLL were a high point of the evening. They harmonize like angels. "This singer writes intriguing acoustic-pop songs, and delivers them in a smooth, soothing style. " - MIKE HORYCZUN, WPKN RADIO, BRIDGEPORT, CT

CADENCE CARROLL

This singing / strumming / drumming sensation was one of the top draws at our "New Young Artists" show in NYC last year. At our show, CADY performed songs from her debut cd "EVOLVE", which she recorded last year with folk legends The Kennedys. All who've seen her agree she's just about the sweetest, sunniest talent around (and a fearless percussionist to boot!) Several of her folk anthems have become so familiar to fans, one could hear the audience singing along with them. Several song requests from "EVOLVE" were called out, to which Cady graciously complied by playing.

"Comfortable, friendly and completely at ease at the microphone... her performance was so haunting and hypnotic, it almost seemed irreverant to applaud" - FAIRFIELD COUNTY WEEKLY

STEVE SANDBERG

This original instrumentalist/vocalist NYC hometown boy had some new sounds for us - and crafted a new stage personna especially for this performance. This was my fourth time seeing Steve perform live - both his singing & solo improvistions have never sounded stronger. This unique, "electronic musician" built loop upon loop, echo upon echo, solo upon solo - over which he adeptly juggled other-worldly vocals & spoken-word raps. It's great watching Steve "let himself go" into his music.

Emmy-nominated Steve currently scores "Dora the Explorer for Nickelodeon/CBS. His current solo concerts, "Chants, Songs and Musical Landscapes" are improvised shamanistic journeys bringing together his love of world music, pop, jazz and electronic sounds.

JON RAYMOND POLLARD

John Raymond Pollard's world pop sound is intimate, yet non-invasive. His recordings shine with Pollard's song writing, temperamental voice, the beautifully arranged work of world class musicians. His 2002 release, Passion, Poison, and Politik takes the listener on a lyrical journey resplendent with world rhythms and largely acoustical instrumentation. Songs explore the passion, poison, and politics that inform relationships across diverse cultural and historical settings. Pollard*s first album, SandSurfSea&Sky, paints emotional and melodic beach, sky, and seascapes. Songs genres include bossa nova, pop, inventive rock, folk, reggae, and tango.

Recently back from a long trip to Brazil, he brought back some sonic flavorings from that country as well for this show. Jon was accompanied for several songs by fellow NYC artist STEVE SANDBERG.
