Fable
A deadly error once took place
long ago, when from yearnings
to witness the Power within,
we dreamt for ourselves an exterior diety
premature in boundlessness
and impossible in scope
*
But we could not live with this god's expectations
and we could not reclaim what we'd given away
So in shame, we surrendered our own sacred fortune,
thus divining the undoing
of both believers and Believed
*
And now,
somewhere off in a man-made paradise,
not really knowing, but vaguely disturbed,
an ill-fated Lord-on-High regrets
and frets He made the same mistake
the day He formed the human world
from a dream He thought He had of Himself
