Estrogen was formed in 1998, when friends and solo artists Corinne Curcio, Lori Muskat and Carol Markowitz began writing and performing together. The trio realized that the lesbian community is a vibrant source of humor - from relationships to roles, hairstyles to heartbreak. Estrogen's debut CD, Tales from Lesbianville, features such songs as "Lesbian Moment" (those memorable times when a couple has PMS), "Size 9" (the discrepancies in women's clothing sizes), and "Crush by Default" (when it's not love, but something more mundane). The band has performed in various venues in the NYC area, including Brooklyn Arts Exchange, the Page One Cafe, and a benefit show for the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard of Long Island.
